Daniella Ehrlich first came to pilates about 15 years ago. She was attending her cousin’s ballet classes in Australia, when she first experienced some of the movements. Being a professional opera singer, her cousin thought it would also benefit her singing. Daniella then invited her cousin Terasa to teach small pilates matwork classes at the Sydney opera house in the dressing room before shows. It was after her first class there, that Daniella experienced the most amazing freedom in her singing and was immediately hooked!
Daniella moved to New York to study her Masters in Music and continued to practise pilates to keep fit, tone her body and strengthen her singing muscles. She did three matwork classes a week with Linda Farrell at the Broadway Dance Centre, and when she couldn’t find the time or money, practised with Linda’s video at home.
Whilst working as a full-time chorister with Welsh National Opera in Cardiff, Daniella decided to train as a pilates instructor with Michael King's Pilates Institute in London and also with Balanced Body University and Stott in New York. Upon completing her studies, she left full time singing to become a freelance opera soloist and set up her own pilates studio in Chiswick, London. She now has quite a following, and has managed to alleviate back pain, sciatic pain, neck pain, frozen shoulders, and knee pain from many of her clients. She has also seen her clients free themselves from asthma, and her skiing clients have reported more ease, strength and freedom on the slopes. As for her rugby and body building clients…well, those men will never reveal their secret love of Daniella’s pilates sessions to anyone! As well as rehabilitating clients after surgery from breast cancer and other cancers, Daniella also works with pregnant women right until they give birth, keeping their bodies moving, relieving any back pain, and strengthening their pelvic floor in preparation for the birth. She also nurtures new mums through postnatal pilates.
Daniella’s teaching style is calming, caring and thorough. She allows you to work at your own pace, yet always pushes you to improve your flexibility and strength. There is never a dull moment in Daniella’s private and group sessions, with laughter, sweat and good pain, which makes them enjoyable, challenging and always looking forward to the next one.
Testimonials
* I took up pilates about 8 years ago now to try to improve my posture and relieve neck and backpains from my sedentary life. I have been to a variety of teachers and a variety of schools. Daniella has been one of the best teachers. I went to her classes after recovering from 4 months of sciatica. Since then i have managed to go to class mostly on a weekend, and that has helped to keep me mobile and out of trouble now for almost 18 months. I enjoy the variety of exercises and different apparatus . in particular the work to improve leg co-ordination and strength for skiing has enable me to have a good start to this year’s skiing season.

Cheers,

* Pilates with Daniella is superb. She monitors precisely the level of exercise I am used to and tries to add a bit more challenge to it. There is dynamic in her work which also adds a bit of cardio workout to her sessions. I am trying to come twice a week, three times would possibly be ideal, but when I miss a session I feel it immediately. She has a great personality and excels through her professional attitude. Love it.
Did I forget anything??
Oh, yes,her lovely smile..

* Daniella's energy, positive, upbeat, happy attitude makes my Pilates class so enjoyable. I go to three of Daniella's classes a week. I love how precise she is. I have noticed a huge change in my body over the last year. It has given me my confidence back after having my son. I've always had a bad back and pilates has improved it so much. My family say I'm addicted to pilates so much so that I now want to train in it! I believe all of this is down to Daniella's teaching. She is fab!

* For the last 8 years I've been suffering from a bad back which happens regularly every 6 months. Despite visits to several Chiropractors and general exercising in the gym I still had the regular bout of back pain issues. I finally gave in to my wife's nagging on the benefits of Pilates and took the plunge to attend her class with Daniella.
The first 2 lessons I just didn't get it! So I talked through with Daniella on why I just didn't understand the Pilates excercises and concepts so we agreed to have 2 personal lessons and bingo - through her patience and expertise the penny dropped. I've been doing Pilates now for 1.5 years with once a week on my own but then also attending a class to keep me on the straight and narrow. I'm glad to say that I've had no back pain now for 1.5 years and really do feel stronger around my core (see I'm even understanding the lingo!).
Thanks Daniella (and my wife for getting me there in the first place).
Regards, Dave.
* Daniella turned my life around with her pilates teaching sessions, particularly the one-to-one times when she concentrated on my own specific weaknesses. I stood straight for the first time for years and had more flexibility in my back.
Since she moved to London I have lapsed into bad habits again and both my body and mind miss her very much!

* I started to work with Daniella after several years of pilates matwork, which I'd enjoyed, but felt the need to progress more and build my core strength (particularly since I had lost abdominal muscle following a cancer operation). After only three sessions in the studio with Daniella, I found an extraordinary increase in strength. Curl ups were no effort, I was able to hold positions in matwork that had previously really taxed me - with absolute ease and my hip no longer hurts after running.
I am doing two sessions a week, which has definitely increased the speed with which I've seen results. I look forward to every session, they're addictive!

*I am a keen skier and pilates (just once a week) has made a huge improvement in my core strength, so that I can now ski in much more difficult conditions.

* Discovering Pilates with Daniella has been a revelation. I started it a year ago to get back into shape after a serious illness. I found out that an hour of Pilates was more effective than two hours at the gym. Now I am totally addicted and hate it when I have to miss my weekly session. Daniella also makes it fun, which is a real bonus!

* Having suffered from back problems for many years and sciatica for the last 5 I have now been doing pilates with Daniella on a weekly basis for the past 12 months. This has resulted in a dramatic improvement in my symptoms, except of course when I go on holiday or away on business for extended periods of time – then I degenerate into the over 50’s male that I am !!
